Today’s Leaders Are Nowhere to be Found

(Here’s How You Can Become Their Replacement)

80% of Americans say they are unhappy with their careers.

This is for one simple reason:

Bad leaders.

Many of your bosses, teachers, mentors, guides, and anything of the like are terrible leaders - and this doesn’t just apply to America.

It’s just a simple fact. We don’t know how to lead.

So why is that? What is a leader?

Leaders guide the way and encourage everyone (including themselves) to do the right things to make progress.

They come up with a plan and inspire and motivate others to achieve it.

They make sure the plan is carried out well, either by doing it themselves or by helping others.

(Great leaders support and train their teams to become even better than them.)

Throughout most of human history, our leaders were kings.

Throughout history, civilizations and empires turned to their kings for leadership and emotional guidance.

Kings used to stand amongst their citizens and preach confidence and encouragement about the future, and the plans the king had laid out.

In today’s modern workplace, leadership ability is lacking more than ever.

In current times, the powers at be and the leaders of today do not want free thinkers. They do not want you to thrive.

Today’s leaders are often billionaire control freaks who want to monitor and puppeteer everything you say and do. The last thing on their mind is your future or potential.

This is happening for a number of reasons, but the obvious ones are:

  • Power Balance: Global powers are shifting, with new economies and groups gaining influence. Government wants more power and control over your future.

  • Media Impact: Today's media can make leadership direction unclear. Sensationalism, negative news, and propaganda can send you in directions that aren’t congruent with your own vision of the world.

  • Divisions: Split politics and strong opinions and differences can make it tough for leaders to agree and make choices that help everyone.

  • Short-Term Thinking: Sometimes, leaders pick quick wins over long-term success. This can help now but hurt the future.

  • Less Trust: People don't trust leaders as much now. Scandals, corruption, and not being clear have made people less sure leaders can make good choices for everyone.

This means it is completely up to you to determine your future.

Regardless of how far along you are on your journey to freedom and abundance, this newsletter is dedicated to guiding you along that path.

The only way to break free is to become the leader of your own life first, which means you must have a plan.

Leadership is not found within a day, instead, it is developed meticulously throughout a lifetime.

This means at this moment, you must dedicate your life to consistently working towards your vision of leadership.

What does it really take to be a great leader?

One irrefutable trait that you must have in order to be a leader is influence, and of course it’s about having a clear goal, strong plans, and fresh ideas.

But great leadership isn’t just about what a leader does – it’s also about how you do it.

Emotional intelligence is one of the most vital parts of being an excellent leader. Leaders who are deeply attuned to emotions can inspire their teams by understanding and speaking to the things that make them tick.

Sacrificing in the name of others is required throughout the entirety of a leader’s career.

Your job is to sail the ship.

In order to steer the ship that is your own life, and the lives of those close to you – the first step is to determine that everything we discussed above is irrelevant to your life.

Constructs of power, the news, negativity, and circumstance do not impact your life.

You are the only thing that impacts your life.

This style of thinking is known as having an ‘inner locus of control’.

In simple terms, People who have an internal locus of control believe that the outcomes of their actions are the results of their own abilities.

True leaders believe that their actions and hard work will lead them to obtain positive outcomes. This topic is covered in further depth in the book Man’s Search for Meaning.

You are exactly where you are meant to be, in the exact circumstance that you’ve created up until this point.

Accepting and owning this is the pure essence of emotional intelligence.

Your development of this self-control and fortitude is a means of overcoming your own destructive emotions and helps avoid potential downfalls.

By mastering your sense of self, your confidence, and your emotions - you’ll move yourself into a place where leadership of your own life and leadership of others is a possibility.

In order to master your emotions and gain further emotional intelligence, you’ll want to master these 4 domains from the book Primal Leadership.

4 Domains of Emotional Intelligence:

  • self-awareness

  • self-management

  • social awareness

  • relationship management

Together, the four domains of emotional intelligence form the skillset needed to become an emotionally intelligent and resonant leader.

These domains aren’t inherent skills that all great leaders are born with, but they can be learned and perfected with patience and lots of practice.

Good leaders are those who talk about what needs to happen and then do something about it or have a bias for action.

Leaders with a bias for action do not freeze in times of uncertainty or when a decision needs to be made.

They courageously decide and act and hold themselves accountable for their decisions and actions.

Leaders are built, not born.

Welcome to Leaders Only, we’re glad to have you here.

To your success,
Myke

"I don't count the sit-ups. I only start counting when it starts hurting because they're the only ones that count. That's what makes you a champion."

– Muhammad Ali

Why we love it: This quote from Ali is a metaphor for life itself.

The willingness to embrace the struggle, to find value in difficult moments, is what sets extraordinary individuals apart. Ali's words remind us that success is not linear—it's a journey with peaks and valleys. It's about the determination to keep going when the going gets tough, to find purpose in pain, and to redefine our limits in the process.
